Well, I admit it - I'm celebrating. Well, sort of. I'm still feeling a bit dreamy and languid at the moment.
Neptune, with its long transits, just moved into Pisces after 13 years in Aquarius, where it was hanging out with my Sun and Saturn (which are conjunct in my natal chart).
Imagine a sugar cube thrown into the ocean, seeming very small and before long dissolving away to nothing at all -- becoming one with the ocean.
The Sun in this little story is the sugar cube; Neptune is the ocean.
That's pretty much the effect of slow-moving Neptune wandering over your Sun, which symbolizes your identity, ego, and conscious (trained) mind. Dissolve, dissolve, dissolve.
My natal Saturn shares the same placement as my Sun. Saturn symbolizes form and structure, amongst other things, which during a Neptune transit are more like sandcastles that dissolve with the incoming tide.
Things dissolve, perspectives and worldviews expand, experience gets broadened, and egos get washed away. And new visions are born. That was me during this transit - lost a lot, gained even more.
So with the Neptune and Uranus transits just ended, it's kind of like a birthday, or rather, rebirth day.
Neptune's archetype and energy affects everyone, though. Just how it affects you depends on the nuances of your own chart (which is like your blueprint).
Historical astrologers point the way to the actual effects of the 'outer planet' transits, documenting what happens in the culture during particular transits of Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, particularly when they join up with one another or the other planetary archetypes to whip up special energies and experiences.
Uranus just shifted mid-March from Pisces to Aries (water to fire), and Neptune just shifted from Aquarius to Pisces (air to water).
Neptune is Piscean in Nature, so it's a comfortable energetic. Doubly watery. Think emotion, vision, sensitivity, empathy, psychic ability, telepathy, Big Love, grace, compassion, spirituality, mysticism. Being watery, it's an energy that dissolves boundaries.
This is a fine thing, this entry of Neptune into Pisces, just as a whole party of planetary archetypal energies are dancing away in fiery, feisty, strong-willed and strong-headed Aries.
That could get a little too hot, a little too "my will be done", so Neptune (and Chiron, the Wounded Healer) wandering into Pisces adds a little bit of water and empathy to keep the fire and me-me-me-willfulness in check.
It's like a party attended by the Virgin Mary and Kwan Yin (Water) and the Black Madonna and Kali (Fire).
Big Love and compassion sound fabulous, and they are. So are Neptune's other qualities -- empathy, compassion, psychic sensitivity. But remember the boundary dissolving nature of this archetype -- the dissolution of structure, boundaries, whether they're healthy or not.
So without the clearly defined boundaries and limitations in place, we have to learn to discern energies and boundaries in another way -- see with our other eyes, if you will.
Without that awareness and discernment (and support), shadow-Neptune potentials include over-merging, victimization, depression, free-floating fear, and addiction.
If we learn to attune to and use our body wisdom, empathy, vision, and psychic sensitivity well, we're better able to swim with the right currents and swim past, or avoid altogether, those that might just as easily suck us under.
Or if we do get sucked into the whirlpool, we'll know to trust the current, go with it, and pop up on the other side.
That's easier said than done, which is why it does require its own right-brained, Feminine brand of discipline and awareness.
In esoteric astrology, Neptune is said to be the higher-octave of Venus -- the latter a personal archetype, the former a transpersonal archetype.
So where Venus might show us how to relate with earthly creations and relationships, Neptune takes it into the stratosphere of Divine and unconditional Love.
Where Neptune heightens empathy, divination-potential, and psychic sensitivity, Venus helps us to bring those into our ways of relating and manifesting here in the world.
Where Neptune gives us transcendent, Divinely inspired vision and awareness, Venus (and other personal archetypes) have us bringing these higher energies and ideals to Earth. Creating Heaven on Earth.
Such vision defines the 'what' of our purpose and yearnings, and when it's clear and rightly attuned enough, the 'how' takes care of itself.
So it's a very fine time to check back in with your vision and Feminine gifts, to lift them to a higher octave while embodying them here on Earth.
Wishing you well-used Neptune-in-Pisces energies! It'll be around for awhile, so we'll no doubt be chatting about it again.
Blessings,
Jamie
