When the fog (or someone else's energy cloud) rolls in and obscures my view, and my other tried-and-true energy practices aren't quite doing it, I'll pull out one of my tarot decks.
Tarot and other oracles of the sort used for millennia can help us to invite higher wisdom and Divine guidance to reflect itself to us in a different way.
Perhaps your ancestors consulted the runes, or the stones, shells, tea leaves, or I-Ching. Or maybe an altogether different oracle, including the bible itself.
So in this recent moment of foggy-seeing (okay, more than a moment!), I reached for my Vision Quest tarot deck (stashed next to my other favorite tarot decks, and my runes, I-Ching, and stones).
For my own reads, I typically do a six-card spread:
1. past (what brought me to this moment, issue, etc.);
2. the present (what's up with the issue playing out right now);
3. the Big Lesson (aka opportunity, or "what's this all about");
4. the Way (the best approach to adopt);
5. the likely outcome (providing I act on the wisdom of 1-4);
6. whatever other message my Spirit Peeps wish to give me related to this question/issue.
Using the Vision Quest tarot, these are the cards (insights) that reflected themselves back to me:
1. Past - Three of Air - Doubt, fear, mucky doubt-fear thoughts
2. Present - 0 The Holy Fool (aka Clown)
3. The Big Lesson - III Grand Mother (Empress in traditional decks)
4. Mother of Water (Queen of Cups in traditional decks)
5. XVII Star
6. Son of Earth
If you know anything about tarot, you'll know that a 6 card pull that features three Major Arcana (big themes and archetypes) is pretty significant - reflecting a big 'soul path' question (and response).
A quick summary of the insight:
Habits of fearful, doubt-ridden thoughts -- ingrained in our culture -- have contributed to the challenges I've experienced (per my query).
This is something to continue to be mindful of - the power of the Word (thought, vibration).
The 0-Clown (Holy Fool) reflects that the path of experience and spiritual practice leads ultimately to non-possessiveness and egolessness (by way of experiences that challenge both to the core).
But this Trickster aspect of the Divine eventually plants the seeds of a new innocence, playfulness, joy, and present-moment being rather than Type-A busy-doing.
The III-Grandmother, Mother of Water, and 17-Star cards are all Feminine, reflecting that the way forward (and through challenges) will be shown through inner-wisdom and the heartful, empathic, compassionate Feminine ways of being.
These three cards also share a watery quality, a message of flowing rather than willfully controlling.
And, they reflect, the answers are not 'out there', unless what's going on 'out there' is consulted like an oracle rather than as the gospel.
So the message reflected to me?
Drop the crazy-making reliance on the mind, which is steeped in old patterning and limited thinking.
Instead, open further to the Via Feminina, the way of the Feminine, and the gifts and guidance available through those ways of seeing, hearing, and knowing.
The heart and body wisdom first, with mind in loyal service. Whoa, that's different than the cultural message in which we're so well-trained! (Though the heart is slowly gaining...stay tuned.)
As for me and today's reading, this is not a new message.
In fact, it's been a common refrain and often deeply challenging practice over the last 7-year cycle (about to end any day now!). Sort of like, "Luuuuke, trust the Force....".
But in the fog, I welcome the reminder, which helps me to become more clear again, frame current challenges as the power-portals (or ego-dropping opps) that they are, and see the fuzzy outlines of the path before me.
How are the oracles guiding you?
Lots of love,
Jamie
