First, a tidbit on the "Toxic Fem" projects in the percolator, and then a tidbit on The Female Brain.
Here's a bit of what's coming soon:
I've got several upcoming posts percolating on some of the shadow expressions of the suppressed, Patriarchy-poisoned Feminine: "Toxic Hera: The Poisonous 'Ex,'" and "The 'Other Woman'."
Both of these story ideas got seeded after the issues kept coming up over the course of a month, and several women shared stories and asked me -- within days of one another -- "Why would a woman do that to another woman?"
That's a great question. And you know that I love, love, love good questions.
I've asked this very question myself, so I take that as my cue to dive in; have a look-see at the myths, archetypes, and my own experience; and share the gems and insights back out with you.
The answer has a lot to do with indoctrination and the effects of the suppressed Feminine. Think Ereshkigal, Inanna's exiled sister. In short, there's a lot going on beneath the surface, and it's really handy to know what that is.

For now, though, I just picked up a copy of The Feminine Brain (by Louann Brizendine, M.D.) from the local library. Have you read it?
I love this type of content because, while it's pretty clear that there is different acculturation for men and women, including brainwashing about what's (acceptable) Masculine and Feminine, it's also pretty clear that male and female bodies are just-plain wired differently, for good reason.
The more we understand the 'how', 'why', and gifts of what's acculturated and what's 'wired', the more able we'll be to clear the old, unhelpful programs, and begin to respect and celebrate the 'wired' differences rather than do the default, past-its-expiration-date, Patriarchal 'judge, bully, and banish' trip ... which has been disastrous.
Here's a snapshot from The Female Brain:
"It's not as if we all start out with the same brain structure. They are different by nature. Think about this. What if the communication center is bigger in one brain than the other? what if the emotional memory center is bigger in one brain than the other? What if one brain develops a greater ability to read cues in people than another? In this case, you would have a person whose reality dictated that communication, connection, emotional sensitivity, and responsiveness were primary values. This person would prize these qualities above all others and be baffled by another person with a brain that didn't grasp the importance of these qualities. In essence, you would have someone with a female brain." (From Chapter 1, "what makes us women").
The publisher also declares that "Women will come away from this book knowing that they have a lean, mean communicating machine. Men will develop a serious case of brain envy."
Aside from the typically over-mechanized language choices, that sounds all very compelling!
Ahhhh ... one more bit of delicious research from which I'll glean pearls and strands of silk to spin into insights and weave into the upcoming writings and programs. Stay tuned...
